After Party

This year's after-festival celebration was hosted just a block away from the Seawalk Pavilion at Jacksonville Beach's first microbrewery.
Their popular hand crafted "Save the Whale" Imperial Stout on tap was enjoyed by many. Thank you Green Room Brewing for your continued support. 20% of the brew's proceeds were donated to the 2016 Right Whale Festival! Always remember the bonus: the Green Room is dog friendly!

Unique Exhibitors and Fun Learning for Kids

Connect with diverse exhibitors focused on marine conservation and education, water recreation and sports, boating and fishing, and other outdoor activities. Unique gifts including fine art, photography and distinctive crafts will be for sale.

Highlights:

  • Kids’ Passport Program: Kids can interact with exhibitors through an passport program which features questions about right whales and other marine species. Experts are on hand to answer questions and share helpful information. Small prizes are awarded to those who complete their passport questions.

  • Right Whale Obstacle Course: The Right Whale Obstacle Course is an interactive activity for kids to learn about threats to the right whale population. The course starts with a brief educational lesson using large, brightly colored display boards illustrating the right whales annual migration and the threats they face along the way. The children then navigate through an obstacle course of these threats, such as avoiding (foam) propellers, maneuvering thorough ropes (fishing gear), and wading through trash.

  • Bones and Baleen: A favorite among festival attendees, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission brings real baleen and bones from right whales and other whales. Seeing these items in-person will truly give you an understanding of their size.

  • Bounce House: Upon request of festival attendees, bounce houses are a favorite of young children and allow them to blow-off some energy while parents enjoy the great music and food.

  • H2O Bus: Sea to Shore Alliance Healthy Habitats and Oceans program (H2O) renovated a bus. The bus will be used as a mobile marine debris classroom! The goal is to outfit the bus with exhibits focused on entanglement, ingestion, rafting and more.

  • Life South Blood Mobile: Every three seconds someone needs blood. Thank you to the thirty plus people who donated blood during the 2016 RWF. When you consider that one blood donation can save up to three lives it is easy to see how donating blood can make a significant difference in someone's life. One never knows when the life that is saved may be a member of your own family, a friend, or a co-worker. http://www.lifesouth.org/
